Health and Social care has been designed to support learners in school who want to learn about this vocational sector and the potential it can offer them for their careers or further study.

Students will understand and be able to apply the fundamental principles and concepts of the rights of individuals, person-centred values, effective communication and how to protect individuals in health and social care settings.
Health and social care is a remarkable subject to develop cognitive and problem-solving skills, as students will practice and expand on their interpersonal skills as they accurately apply their knowledge to the health and social care sector. Students will learn to critically analyse and evaluate information showing logical reasoning towards solutions.

There is a range of opportunities available to enrich your subject knowledge outside of the classroom, including visits to local medical museums.
Assessment
Internal assessments will take place throughout each year to monitor pupil progress and further inform teaching and learning. At the end of year 11 you will have completed one external examination (40% of overall grade) and one internal controlled assessment (60% of overall grade).
Careers
This course can lead to further study at either A-level, BTEC L3 Health and Social Care or an apprenticeship in a variety of sectors.
