Pastoral Support and Wellbeing

As part of the Beckfoot Trust, we value family engagement and the role that we play in supporting our children and young people to enjoy, learn and succeed. We expect all of our employees, young people and families to commit to working together to meet our mission of ‘creating remarkable schools where no child is left behind.’

Our school will:

  • Provide a safe environment and opportunities for children and young people to develop age-appropriate independence, high self-esteem and effective communication skills
  • Provide a culture where norms of behaviour are made very clear and children and young people know that expectations of them are high
  • Develop learning habits through constant practice and through dedicated time so that children and young people are equipped for learning and life success
  • Work to build better trusting relationships, acknowledging where things could have been done better

Mental Health and Wellbeing

At Beckfoot Thornton, we recognise the vital role that mental health and wellbeing play in helping students thrive both academically and personally. We are proud to offer a dedicated Wellbeing Room, a safe and supportive space staffed by our committed team, where students can seek comfort, guidance, and a listening ear. Our close partnership with the Mental Health Support Team ensures that students have access to professional support when needed, allowing us to respond effectively to their emotional and mental health needs. By fostering an environment where wellbeing is prioritised, we aim to empower every student to achieve their full potential and build resilience for the future.
