PE at Beckfoot Thornton

We build students physical, mental, and social wellbeing through the medium of physical activity.

We aim to create an environment of enjoyment where students achieve and grow in confidence in all physical areas. Students will develop their understanding of sport specific terminology, rules, gamesmanship and sport etiquette.

We aim to empower students to lead a healthy and active lifestyle, providing opportunities for for all to compete in sport and other activities, in turn building character, including values such as fairness and respect.

Enrichment

We offer a range of sports/activities after school including football, rugby, netball, badminton, cricket, rounders and dance. Some of these lead to representing the school in fixtures, competitions and performances while improving their skill level and enjoying the benefits of physical activity.

We also run trips to see live sporting events throughout the year, and run annual sports awards to celebrate the success and achievements of students.

Assessment

Internal assessments will take place throughout each year to monitor pupil progress and further inform teaching and learning.
