At Beckfoot Thornton, student voice and leadership are key to creating a positive and inclusive culture where everyone feels they can belong. We value the voices of our students to positively contribute to the improvement of our school.
How can our students get involved?
Student voice and leadership is often encouraged by regular “listening projects”. These give students the opportunity to speak freely about a variety of aspects of the school, these can be related to recent school changes, specific curriculum aspects, and student led focuses. Providing valuable insight into our school in how students feel about these various issues, allowing significant change to the school based up on their views.
Our students are also involved in recruitment events and often support with external visits to the school, supporting our students personal development to become confident communicators.
Student Voice Groups
Our students come from a diverse range of backgrounds, and we strive to ensure that our school celebrates these differences. Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion group meets regularly with our Student Voice Group to discuss what we can improve from an EDI stance within our wider school community.
